Description from GoodReads: “Novelist Paul Sheldon has plans to make the difficult transition from writing historical romances featuring heroine Misery Chastain to publishing literary fiction. Annie Wilkes, Sheldon's number one fan, rescues the author from the scene of a car accident. The former nurse takes care of him in her remote house, but becomes irate when she discovers that the author has killed Misery off in his latest book. Annie keeps Sheldon prisoner while forcing him to write a book that brings Misery back to life.”

“’I am in trouble here.  This woman is not right.’”

Paul Sheldon will find out just how much of an understatement that is in this gruesome and cringe-worthy tale by Stephen King.  Oh my gosh, I would be reading along, getting into Paul’s mind and his writing and then out of nowhere Annie Wilkes would come in and just rock both his and my world with some off-the-wall sh*t!  That is one crazy lady!

The premise for the book is awesome.  Annie Wilkes is super P.O.ed that Paul off-ed her favorite character (WE CAN ALL TOTALLY RELATE!) and she is going to make him correct his mistake.  You go girl.  But soon he will find out that she is far more dangerous than he even at-first assumed.

My favorite part was the newspaper clippings when Paul realizes just exactly what he’s gotten himself into.  My anxiety level just jumped up off the charts!

Again, I felt like we get to get right inside King’s brain in this book:

“Because writers remember everything... Especially the hurts. Strip a writer to the buff, point to the scars, and he'll tell you the story of each small one. From the big ones you get novels, not amnesia. A little talent is a nice thing to have if you want to be a writer, but the only real requirement is that ability to remember the story of every scar.”

You need this book if you don’t mind Stephen King’s brand of gore and if you are somebody’s #1 fan :)
