Stephen King Recommends Reading Challenge
GoodReads Description: "A modern classic, Carrie introduced a distinctive new voice in American fiction -- Stephen King. The story of misunderstood high school girl Carrie White, her extraordinary telekinetic powers, and her violent rampage of revenge, remains one of the most barrier-breaking and shocking novels of all time.
Make a date with terror and live the nightmare that is...Carrie"
I'm going back and reviewing the Stephen King books I've read and not reviewed! I realized when making this post about books Stephen King recommends that I had read several of his books without reviewing them - and that's a darn shame!
Carrie is the perfect place to start. Carrie was King's debut novel and if you haven't read it yet - you've probably been living under a rock and would get along well with the main character. Or maybe you're in high school yourself? That's when I read this book for the first time and fell in love - staying up late, hiding under the covers of my water bed!
Carrie does not feel like a debut. It is an absolutely fabulous novel. One of my favorite books of all time. King was teaching high school when he wrote it and his realistic characters will take you right back there. No matter what decade you were in school (and this one takes place in a totally groovy one!). It is still completely relevant and accurate and timeless. It is a horrible tale of teenage cruelty, petty jealousies and malice. And then (AND THEN!) it is a story of REVENGE.

King shines with his characters - you will hate most of them - and your heart will break for Carrie. The story is full of suspense, with articles on telekinesis breaking up chapters. It is AMAZING!
JUST READ IT! King at his best!
