GoodReads Description: "When the Creeds move into a beautiful old house in rural Maine, it all seems too good to be true: physician father, beautiful wife, charming little daughter, adorable infant son-and now an idyllic home. As a family, they've got it all...right down to the friendly car. But the nearby woods hide a blood-chilling truth-more terrifying than death itself-and hideously more powerful. The Creeds are going to learn that sometimes dead is better. "

Stephen King has said this was the scariest book he ever wrote.  And if you're a parent, you will surely agree!  Because it is that kind of scary.  Fear for your children scary...

I had the pleasure of reading a version that had an introduction written by King detailing how this story came about and how inspired by his life it really was.  And being a die-hard fan of Stephen King, that made me love this book all the more.

The Creeds are a nice family who have just moved to a nice place in rural Maine.  The setting really is beautiful.  The only thing wrong with this idyllic location is that busy road...

"It's that damn road... It uses up a lot of animals."

And then the Pet Sematary in the woods beyond becomes problematic... but the Indian burial grounds behind it could just tear this family apart...

It was a frightening tale, but let's be honest, King's characterization and writing far outshines the story and the horror in this book.  His writing absolutely amazes me, enthralls me... I was in a book slump and he yanked me right out.  He is just brilliant.

This book is classic King and I don't know why I took so long to read it!
