The beautiful outdoor library in Hay-on-Wye is pictured above!  *Sigh* isn't it a dream? Recently, a TTT post about book festivals brought this gem of a literary town to my attention and added it to my bucket list!  I plan on doing a few upcoming blog posts on literary destinations - so stay tuned!

My most recent library haul is slightly more realistic than the past.  I just don't get through the library books if I have too many NetGalley books coming up so I've only gotten 2 this time.

Belgravia by Julian Fellowes
Belgravia
GoodReads Description: "FROM THE CREATOR OF DOWNTOWN ABBEY The New York Times bestselling novel about scandalous secrets and star-crossed lovers On the evening of 15 June 1815, the great and the good of British society have gathered in Brussels at what is to become one of the most tragic parties in history - the Duchess of Richmond's ball. For this is the eve of the Battle of Waterloo, and many of the handsome young men attending the ball will find themselves, the very next day, on the battlefield.
For Sophia Trenchard, the young and beautiful daughter of Wellington's chief supplier, this night will change everything. But it is only twenty-five years later, when the upwardly mobile Trenchards move into the fashionable new area of Belgravia, that the true repercussions of that moment will be felt. For in this new world, where the aristocracy rub shoulders with the emerging nouveau riche, there are those who would prefer the secrets of the past to remain buried..."

I got this one because I have been binge watching (re-watching?) Downton Abbey and so a book by its creator seemed apropo.

The Familiar Dark by Amy Engel
The Familiar Dark
GoodReads Description: "Set in the poorest part of the Missouri Ozarks, in a small town with big secrets, The Familiar Dark opens with a murder. Eve Taggert, desperate with grief over losing her daughter, takes it upon herself to find out the truth about what happened. Eve is no stranger to the dark side of life, having been raised by a hard-edged mother whose lessons Eve tried not to pass on to her own daughter. But Eve may need her mother's cruel brand of strength if she's going to face the reality about her daughter's death and about her own true nature. Her quest for justice takes her from the seedy underbelly of town to the quiet woods and, most frighteningly, back to her mother's trailer for a final lesson."

Looking forward to this one after seeing so many rave reviews and my being a NetGalley reject!

Many thanks to my local library!
