My Review:

The Talisman is a book about the journey of a 12-year-old boy across the country and in and out of other worlds to save his mother from dying of cancer.

I loved the beginning of this book. I always think that Stephen King writes young children well and his coming of age type stories are some of his best. So I liked Jack's character and his devotion to his mother. However, toward the middle-end of this story I lost interest. I liked the Territories medieval-type setting and would have liked to know more about that world. But by the time we got to the Blasted Lands, I thought it dragged a bit.

So maybe not my favorite Stephen King, but it was still pretty good. I think it was almost a pre-cursor or inspiration for his newer Fairy Tale book which I absolutely loved. So could be the comparison hurt this book in my eyes, as well.
